Spring Semester Writing Tutoring Begins

As the swim season winds down and spring semester starts up, the Swimmer Scholars have more in-class time to develop fundamental skills.  Our donors' generous support enables Trident to provide an in-classroom tutor throughout the week. Developing critical writing skills is a core value for Trident because it leads to further success in college and beyond. Essay writing, fiction exercises, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development throughout the spring directly impact Summer and Fall SAT and PSAT results for sophomores and juniors.

Congratulations Swim Team!

Congratulations to the GW Swim Team and Coach Garcia for ending a great PSAL High School season!  For the first time, the team made the championship heat at the A Division Champs in the 200-free relay, finishing 8th with Swimmer Scholars Samuel Espinal, John Castillo, Diego Reynoso, and Joshua Landau.  The same lineup also placed 10th in the 200 medley relay.  Joshua Landrau individually finished 11th in the 50 free with a time of 23.53 while anchoring the relays in a team best 22.9.  The entire team also contributed to a strong 6th place team finish at the B Division Championships a week earlier!

Last Stroke Clinic of 2011!

Executive Directors Thayer Thompson, Kristin Gary and Jeremy Fain - all national-level swimmers - led the Swimmer Scholars at a Stroke Clinic in Washington Heights.  Check out the photos here.

Welcome back Swimmer Scholars!

A beginning of a new academic year means two things:

1. Time to get in shape!

2. Get ready for SAT prep (sign up for the November test!)

The college application process has also begun for Seniors - get ready to be accepted!

Spring SAT Prep a Huge Success

Congratulations to all the Swimmer Scholars taking SAT Prep with Kaplan this Spring.  We hope everyone did well on their June SAT Test.  During prep class, we saw a 575-point improvement in average scores!  That is amazing!
